Skip NavigationOn April 27th, Army Specialist Fidel Bobadilla, Jr. and his wife Daisy, were welcomed by a crowd of supportive Hanford citizens to their new mortgage-free home! The home was built specifically tailored to Mr. Bobadilla Jr.'s needs through the national non-profit organization, Homes for Our Troops.
In 2011, then Army Specialist Fidel Bobadilla, Jr., was just two months into his first deployment when his armored fighting vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Zabul Province, Afghanistan, resulting in the loss of both of his legs above the knee.
This home is a huge improvement to the small apartment that the couple has been living in since Fidel returned home to the valley in 2011. Their new smart home features wide halls and doorways, a large shower and tub, low counters, shelves that drop down, electronic door openers, etc.
Many national corporations donated material and labor to the project, including Certainteed, Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool, and Armstrong Flooring. But Robinsons Carpet One was the only local business involved and donated all of the flooring installation for the home!
Owner Mike Robinson was absolutely thrilled to be a part of the project. Go to Robinsons Facebook page to see more pictures from the ceremony!
